Channel 5 greenlights Police 999 from Crackit Productions

Crackit Productions has been commissioned by Channel 5 to produce a new hi-octane police series, Police 999: Clear & Present Danger (working title).

The new 6 x 60 part series takes viewers into the heart of modern-day policing in Britain. With access to shocking bodycam footage, the series steps into the shoes of officers on the frontline to get a unique understanding of the most extreme incidents police officers face on the streets of the UK.

In the first episode of Police 999: Clear & Present Danger two officers put their lives on the line as they try to talk down a man armed with knives, a police dog takes on a violent thug after their handler is attacked and a 999 caller calmly confesses to a chilling murder.

Elaine Hackett, CEO of Crackit Productions said: “This is a gripping new series that puts viewers at the centre of the action via the police bodycams and keeps them up close and personal with the forces every step of the way as they run into danger to protect the public. It’s an eye-opening insight into what our emergency services have to deal with on a daily basis in this country and is testament to the enduring popularity of police crime shows in the UK.”

Federico Ruiz, Commissioning Editor, Channel 5 and Paramount+ commented: “Police 999: Clear and Present Danger stirs up visceral reactions from viewers as they live through the business end of UK policing first-hand. Few people know what it’s like to be a police officer facing down dangerous criminals; this is the closest you’re ever going to get.”

Police 999: Clear & Present Danger is a Crackit Production for Channel 5.  The series has been commissioned by Federico Ruiz, Commissioning Editor, Channel 5 and Paramount+. The Executive Producers are Elaine Hackett and Fintan McGuire and series producer is Rob Lambie.
